Everything you can do
with Docufy AI.
A quick reference for every feature in the app, what it costs in AI credits, and how the credit system works. If anything here is unclear, write to mail@alceitlabs.com.
Free — included for everyone
These work on the free tier with no subscription and no AI credits. No limits beyond the per-scan page cap.
Scan a document
Tap the blue + button on the document list. The ML Kit document scanner opens — point your phone at the page and the edges, perspective and contrast are detected automatically. Multiple pages can be added in one session. Free tier: up to 20 pages per scan; Premium: up to 30 pages per scan.
Generate a PDF
When the scan finishes, a clean A4 PDF is generated automatically — single- or multi-page, with the filename derived from the detected document type (lease, invoice, prescription, etc.). Stored encrypted on your device.
Share a PDF
Open any document → the share icon in the top bar → pick the app to share to (email, WhatsApp, Drive, Signal, anything that accepts a PDF). The file leaves your device only when you tap share.
Organise with folders
Long-press a document to move it into a folder, or create a new folder from the document list overflow menu. Folder structure is unlimited and free.
Import from gallery
Already photographed a document? On the scanner screen, tap "Gallery" instead of using the camera. Select your images in the right order — a numbered confirmation overlay guards against the Samsung One UI ordering bug.
Fix a page in the editor
Every scanned or imported page opens in the page editor before it is stored, and any stored page can be re-opened from the document view (page thumbnail → Edit). Each tool below is free, works offline and applies to the page you are looking at — in a multi-page import, page by page. Confirmed steps stack, and the last one can always be taken back.
⬚
Crop Free
The crop icon in the top bar opens four corner handles. Drag them onto the paper edge; the perspective is removed at the same time, so a page photographed at an angle comes out rectangular. Guide lines show what will be cut.
📐
Straighten Free
The ruler icon — the same four handles read the other way: nothing is cut away, the selection is squared up and the rest of the picture follows. Use it when the paper edge has already been cropped away and there is nothing left to aim at. It starts from the page's own lines of text.
📖
Book page Free
Photographing an open book bends the lines towards the gutter. The book switch measures that curve from the text itself and flattens it. It says what it found — straightened, already straight, or not enough text — instead of silently doing nothing.
✂️
Split a spread Free
One photo of two facing pages becomes two pages. The fold is proposed where the app finds it, and you can drag the line yourself if the book was held at an angle. Offered on an upright page, left half first.
🧽
Clean Free
A brush that wipes creases, shadows, staple marks and stray specks off the paper — with your finger, exactly where you point. Width and strength are adjustable, each wipe can be taken back, and magnifying the page makes the brush correspondingly finer on it.
🎚️
Image mode & contrast Free
Four modes: Original (untouched), Auto (shadows removed, colour kept), Grayscale, Black & white (smallest files, best for plain text). The app proposes one from what it sees; you decide. The contrast slider fine-tunes whichever mode is active.
🔄
Rotate & page size Free
Turn the page in 90° steps — metadata only, so it costs nothing and loses nothing. Choose an A4 sheet (white margins where the photo does not reach) or fit the image, which suits photographs better than documents.
🔍
Zoom & undo Free
Pinch to magnify the page — on the preview and while cleaning — with one tap back to the whole page. A gesture that turns into a pinch is discarded rather than committed. The most recent confirmed step is listed and can be dropped, revealing the one beneath it.
Sign a document
Open a document → the preview → Signature. You can create one in three ways: draw it with a finger or stylus, photograph it from paper (the background is removed, so only the ink remains), or import an image file you already have. Signatures are stored AES-256 encrypted on your device and are never uploaded unless you switch cloud sync on.
Place it on the page
Pick a signature from your library and drag it where it belongs — move, scale and rotate it directly on the page. It sticks to the content, so turning the page afterwards takes the signature with it. Every PDF you export or share from then on carries it. Deleting a signature from the library removes it from the pages it was placed on, and the app says how many that is before you confirm.
Add a watermark
Same screen, Watermark. Ten ready-made words are offered in your language — DRAFT, COPY, CONFIDENTIAL, SAMPLE, ORIGINAL, PAID, APPROVED, URGENT, DO NOT COPY, INTERNAL — or type your own. An image works too, for a logo.
Watermark options
Set the size, the angle and the opacity; repeat it across the whole sheet or place it once; put it in front of the content or behind it, where it reads like paper stationery. Apply it to the page you are on or to every page of the document. ⓘ A watermark is metadata over the page, not burned into the scan — you can move or remove it at any time, and the PDF is rebuilt when you next share it.
Two PDFs from one scan
The scan PDF is made automatically and shows the pages exactly as photographed. It is not just a picture: the recognised text is laid over it invisibly, so the PDF is searchable and you can select and copy from it in any reader. This is the one to send when the document must look like the original — a signed contract, an official letter, a receipt.
The re-typeset text PDF
In the document view, Text PDF builds a second file that rebuilds the document as real text: headings, paragraphs, bullet and numbered lists, bold, horizontal rules, and the pictures cut from the original page. The result is a clean, small, fully selectable document — good for reading, quoting and archiving. ⓘ It will not look identical to the paper; that is the point of the other one. Both are free and both stay available.
Documents in other scripts
The app reads eight scripts: Latin, Cyrillic, Greek, Arabic, Devanagari, Chinese, Japanese and Korean. Because a page cannot be reliably told apart from its own writing, you choose the script when the document comes in — there is a button for it on both the camera and the gallery import screen, pre-set to your app language. Latin is always read as well, so a German line inside an Arabic invoice still comes out German.
Wrong script? Read it again
If a document was read with the wrong script, open it → the OCR text tab → Read again and pick the right one. The page is re-read and the PDF rebuilt. Everything here runs on your device: the recognition models ship inside the app, so the first scan in any script works with no network and no download.
The six AI workflows
Five of the six workflows below are unlocked by an active Premium subscription (Weekly or Monthly) or by boost credits alone — no subscription required. Translate is the exception: it needs an active Premium subscription. Each workflow runs once per (document, mode) combination and the result is cached — re-opening the screen is free and instant.
📝
Generate summary Premium
Four flavours: Short (3-line gist), Long (full prose), Bullets (key points), Explain (assumes you're new to the topic). Pick the one that fits — same credit cost.
✅
Build to-do list Premium
Pulls actionable tasks out of contracts, letters, meeting notes — "sign by", "pay by", "follow up on", "send to". Order preserved so you can work through them top-down.
🔑
Extract key facts Premium
Structured key/value list of the most important data points: numbers, dates, names, IDs, amounts. Useful for invoices, rental agreements, official letters.
⚠️
Analyse risks Premium
Flagged with severity (Critical · High · Medium · Low). Catches one-sided clauses, fee traps, short-notice deadlines, missing protections. Always cross-check against the original.
💬
Document chat Premium
Ask any question — the AI answers based only on the current document. Each message uses credits proportional to document size (see table). 500-character limit per question.
🌍
Translate Premium
51 languages including all 24 EU official languages plus Mandarin, Japanese, Hindi, Arabic, Swahili. Each language counts as a separate translation — cached after the first run.
Credits — how much each action costs
Every AI action consumes 1, 2 or 3 credits, depending on the size of the document it runs on. Bigger documents need more processing, so they cost more — but the price is capped at 3 credits even for a 30-page file.
| Document size |
Credits per action |
Bucket |
| 1 – 4 pages |
1 |
Small |
| 5 – 14 pages |
2 |
Medium |
| 15 – 30 pages |
3 |
Large |
Example: A 12-page lease costs 2 credits to summarise, 2 credits to extract key facts, 2 credits to analyse risks, and 2 credits per chat question. The result of each is cached — opening the summary screen a second time is free.
Plans — where credits come from
Premium Weekly · €2.99
30 credits/week. Resets every Monday 00:00 UTC. Unused credits do not roll over. Cloud backup + multi-device sync included. Cancel anytime in Google Play; access stays until end of current week.
Premium Monthly · €9.99
180 credits/month. Resets on the 1st of every month 00:00 UTC. Unused credits do not roll over. Cloud backup + multi-device sync + the full 51-language translation set. Best for regular use.
Boost Packs
One-time purchases that top up your AI credits: +50 credits or +100 credits. Boost credits never expire and work without a subscription — a Free user can buy a pack and use the AI workflows it covers (summary, to-do, key facts, risks, chat). Your weekly/monthly plan credits are spent first, so a paid boost is only used once the plan pool is empty and never goes to waste. (Translate stays Premium-only.)
How spending works: When you trigger an AI action, your weekly/monthly plan credits are used first, then your boost credits — so the paid boost that never expires is preserved for as long as possible. The action only runs if the total available covers its cost — otherwise the paywall opens instead of charging a partial amount. Credits are only deducted when the AI action actually succeeds on our server.
Restoring purchases & boost
Your subscription
Subscriptions are tied to your Google account, not to one phone. On a new device or after a reinstall, sign in to Google Play with the same account — the app re-checks with Google on the next launch and re-activates Premium automatically. You can also force it any time via Paywall → "Restore purchases" (also reachable in Settings). If your plan has expired the app reflects that too: it switches back to Free instead of showing a stale Premium state.
Your boost credits
Boost packs are one-time (consumable) purchases, so Google cannot simply re-deliver them — but your remaining boost balance is kept safe on our server. After a reinstall on the same device and Google account it returns automatically (a single anonymous device key is included in Android app backup; your documents and scans are not). If you sign in with a Google account, your boost is additionally tied to that account and follows you to your other devices. Tap "Restore purchases" to pull the latest balance immediately. Boost works with or without a subscription.
Cloud sync — multi-device backup
Sign in with your Google account in Settings → Cloud sync → "Sign in". Once signed in (and Premium-active), open Settings → Cloud sync → "Configure" to pick which categories should sync: Document details · PDF files · Summaries · Key facts · Risks · Translations · Chat history. Chat history is off by default on privacy grounds — toggle it on if you want it backed up.
Cloud sync covers documents you scan after turning it on. Files scanned earlier remain on this device — Cloud sync does not reach back to upload your history. If you want a multi-device copy of an older paper original, simply re-scan it.
Deleting a document removes it from all your connected devices on their next sync — there is no separate cloud copy left behind. Deletion is permanent: there is no trash or undo, so the confirmation prompt is your last checkpoint.
If your subscription ends, cloud access is paused — your synced data is not reachable without an active Premium plan. It is kept safe for a 60-day grace period and is restored the moment you re-subscribe within that window. After the grace period it is deleted automatically.
Privacy & account controls
Change advertising consent
Settings → Legal → "Manage ad consent" re-opens the consent form (EU/UK/CH users). You can withdraw or change your ad personalisation choices at any time.
Delete your account and data
Settings → Account → "Delete account & data". This removes all your local and cloud data immediately and signs you out. There is no recovery — make sure you have exported anything you want to keep first.
Common questions
"I tapped an AI action but the paywall opened — why?"
Your available credits — your plan pool plus any boost — do not cover the action (1, 2 or 3 credits depending on document size). A Free user with no boost sees this on every AI action. Buy a boost pack (works without a subscription) or wait for the next reset. Note: Translate always needs an active Premium subscription — boost credits do not unlock it.
"Why is the second tap free?"
Every AI output is cached per (document, action). Re-opening a screen reads from cache — no credit charge, no network call. Editing or re-scanning the document invalidates the cache.
"Why does Translate ask which language every time?"
Each translation is cached per target language. The first translation into French costs credits; opening it again is free. Translating the same document into Spanish is a new action and costs credits again.
"My document is 45 pages — what happens?"
Premium tier caps a single scan at 30 pages — split larger documents into parts. Each part is then a separate document with its own credit cost based on its actual size.
"Does the page editor or a signature cost credits?"
No. Cropping, straightening, book pages, splitting a spread, the clean brush, contrast and image modes, signatures, watermarks and both PDFs are free and use no AI credits at all. Credits exist only for the six AI workflows, where the cost is real.
"Is a signature added here legally binding?"
This places an image of your signature on the page — the same thing as signing a printout and scanning it back in. It is not a qualified electronic signature in the sense of the eIDAS regulation, and we make no claim about what any given recipient or authority will accept. If a document needs a certified signature, use a service built for that.
"Why does the text PDF look different from my page?"
Because it is not a copy of the page — it is the document rebuilt as text. Fonts, spacing and line breaks come from the app, not from the paper. That is what makes it small, selectable and easy to read; when you need the original look, share the scan PDF instead. Both are always available.
